Every Thursday during ”pea soup season”, which sounds much better in Swedish-(”Ärtsoppesäsongen”), Mjärdevi Science Park AB arranges a soup lunch and guest speaker to encourage informal networking among businesses on the park.
Today, lunch guests met Stefan Kallberg, CEO of Boxholm Technologies and its subsidiary, Eurotempest. Stefan offered a personalized and interesting journey that began in the 1700s with Boxholms Bruk (ironworks) and concluded with Eurotempest’s high tech Tempest products, which are used by some of the country’s most qualified clients—government and defense. Eurotempest specializes in providing computer systems to qualified defense and government customers throughout Europe to protect them from security breaches caused by potentially compromising emissions and emanations.
”We’re on the way to becoming number one in the industry,” said Stefan. “Just now we’re in the top three in this niche in the European market.
He described the company’s success in simple terms.
”We make it clear that we are a European company first and foremost. Many of our competitors prioritize their national market.”
Stefan also prides himself on maintaining tight control over cash flow and capital growth and on believing in his business model even when others question it. He advocates clarity and simplicity when it comes to marketing and sales: “Many companies try to describe everything--all the benefits and all the opportunities of its product. This confuses the customer. When we're out at trade shows, our "bare bones" booth shows only the three most important products. Then it’s easy for customers to understand what we do.”
